Thomas McRae is a Boys Town alum from the Washington D.C. site. He was served by Boys Town Assessment and Short Term Residential, Family Home, and Foster Family Services programs. Facilitated through Boys Town, Thomas achieved permanency through adoption, and he is currently a senior majoring in Psychology at Cheyney University in Pennsylvania. Thomas was voted Freshman and Sophomore-of-the-Year at his university. During the summer of 2013, as a rising junior, Thomas interned with Maryland Senator Ben Cardin through the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute’s Foster Youth Internship program. During his internship, he led his fellow interns in a policy presentation to advocate for improvements in the foster care system. While interning on the Hill, Thomas was profiled in a CNN special story and a Washington Post article. He plans to work with foster youth after graduation, and he would like to return to school to earn his MSW after gaining two or three years of experience in the field.
