Webinar: Building Resiliency in Youth in Residential Treatment Facilities: Enhancing Relationships and Increasing Joy Experiences
Presenter: Brittany R. Pope, MS, Coordinator of Clinically Applied Science, OhioGuidestone
Unfortunately, many youth in residential treatment facilities (RTFs) have experienced life altering adversity. How to help youth overcome adversity, trauma and toxic stress? How to help them heal and become better equipped to successfully deal with daily and future stressors?
Residential treatment programs are constantly evolving to reflect best practices and scientific findings. Resiliency should not be lost as treatment models and clinical interventions expand. Adjusting programming to include efforts that build resiliency would complement other clinical interventions. Appropriate starting points for RTFs to build resiliency are: improve client-staff relationships; and increase joy experiences.
Learn how to adjust residential programming to increase youth resilience through enhanced relational processes that focus on optimizing joy experiences while reducing physical restraints, improving therapeutic engagement, and clinical outcomes.
