LaSalle School is a multi-faceted human service agency in the Pine Hills Neighborhood of Albany, New York, that has continually operated since 1854.
We are seeking an individual with the insight, skill, and experience necessary to shepherd the agency’s interdisciplinary team of amazing individuals who deliver these program services, assure we continue to meet all the regulatory mandates to sustain our multiple oversight agency certificates and licenses, and lead the agency’s programs through the dynamic and challenging environment of child and family service provision that exists today Our longstanding mission of providing a safe and effective place where children who have experienced harm and hardship can heal and thrive continues to this day. Now informed by the science of trauma and neurobiology, motivated by the philosophy that every child and family we encounter is doing the best they can at that moment, we have developed a robust continuum of services, across multiple regulatory environments, to fulfill our commitment to provide interventions and support which can yield lasting positive change in the lives of children and their families. Our unique expertise in the treatment of youth with problematic sexual behaviors has enabled us to intervene with youth and their families who are experiencing the shame and pain of having to deal with the impact of sexual acting out within their family.
Our OCFS licensed Hard to Place Residential Treatment Center serves male youth ages 11 through 21 from across New York State through a highly respected Specialized Residential Treatment Program. We have the capacity to provide a short term evaluation to assist local Family Courts to determine level of care needs for youth presenting with complex issues who are new to their system. The majority of our residentially placed youth are on a trajectory to be reunited with their families. Those for whom that is not an option are immersed in services and experiences which enable them to develop the skills and community connections necessary to progress towards independence. We operate Transitional and a Supervised Independent Living Programs to prepare foster care youth for discharge to their own care. Multi-system youth are carefully linked to the appropriate adult services which are available to address their life long needs. Our Educational Services are delivered by our SED approved campus school, which serves the school aged youth in our RTC and dozens of students from the Greater Capital District for whom public schools seek out of district placements through our Day Services Program. Through our OMH licensed Children’s Integrated Clinic, the Counseling Center at LaSalle offers comprehensive outpatient behavioral health services for youth struggling with chemical dependency and mental health issues. With the dawning of Medicaid funded Children and Family Treatment and Support Services, LaSalle has the capacity to provide both early intervention to prevent and address behavioral health issues before a higher level of care is necessary, and substantial step down supports following a residential placement. The essential responsibilities of this role include:
Executive level oversight of the agency’s interdisciplinary team to deliver, enhance, and build programs and services to foster the healing and resilience and assures regulatory compliance.
Report data and present information to the agency’s board of trustees.
Manage assigned Program Directors.
Program utilization and enrollment oversight, including managing agency risk and ensuring sound financial operations.
Responds directly to Requests for Proposals (RFPs), grants, and other funding / grantor opportunities. May delegate this responsibility and provide oversight to the designee.
Lead role in maintaining effective interdepartmental collaboration.
Budget development and oversight.
Actively builds and sustains working relationships with placing authorities, oversight entities, and other stockholders.
Masters or advanced degree in Human Services or related field
Minimum of 10 years of programmatic oversight in a human services organization
Minimum of 5 years of experience managing managers and program oversight personnel
Experience in senior management, including administrative duties and staff development / supervision.
Experience with Managed Care, Medicaid, and other related regulatory environments.
Familiarity with OCFS, SED, OASAS, OHM, and other relevant licensing and regulatory agencies.
Familiarity with Child Welfare, Special Education, mental Health, Juvenile Justice, and related systems of care.
Familiarity with current regulatory and other trends impacting child welfare, juvenile justice and special education practices.
Demonstrable competency in strategic planning and program design and development.
Familiarity with Trauma Informed Care as applied to programs, services, and overall organizational health.
Skilled in managing complex organizations and navigating organizational change.
Experienced working with and presenting to a board of trustees.
Superior communication skills including writing, speaking, listening, and presenting.
Experience managing large complex organizations.
Appreciation and awareness of human resource labor laws and regulations.
Effective public relations and customer service skills.
Experience building and managing budgets.
Time management expert.
Preferred Skills / Competencies:
MSED, LCSW, EDS, LMHC, or related certification or license preferred.
