            COUNSELOR/SOCIAL WORKER


Reports to the Vice President of Academic Affairs. Full time clinical staff position in the Counseling Services Department, with duties and responsibilities that include but are not limited to the following:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Direct Services: Provide evidenced-based, trauma-informed individual, family, group therapy, case management, assessment, and intake services to the students and families identified at Glenwood Academy;
• Community: Routinely outreach and liaison with schools, other providers, referral sources, and consumer groups;
• Clinical consultation and professional development: Develop and offer trainings and consultative services to residential and academic department staff members;
• Multi-Disciplinary Collaboration and Teaming: Participate in Glenwood Academy’s various staff meetings, in-service workshops, supervision, behavioral health team and special projects as assigned;
• Administrative: Complete timely and professional documentation of activities, participate in quality assurance activities, collect and report on progress/outcomes data related to counseling services;
• Supervision/Clinical Training: Staff member may provide some clinical supervision with student interns;
• Perform other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Master’s degree (MSW or MA) in counseling/ human services area such as Psychology, Social Work or Counseling required
• Clinical licensure to practice independently in Illinois (LCPC, LCSW, Clinical Psychologist) is preferred upon hire or will be required within 12 months of becoming eligible to apply for a clinical license
• Requires well-developed written and oral communication and computer skills
• Three to five years of child/adolescent/family therapy experience using evidenced-based, trauma-informed models preferred
• Valid driver’s license and access to personal vehicle required

EXPERIENCE

• Training and clinical experience with children, adolescents and families, especially in urban, economically impoverished, and culturally diverse populations
• Capacity and interest in working within a team model
• Previous supervision experience or good potential to develop strong supervisory skills
