Inpatient Cottage Supervisor – Tanager Place

Position Summary:

To function as a member of the Inpatient Team providing professional direct care services that are client centered and strengths based. This position is a leadership position requiring sound decision making skills, role modeling and direct oversight of staff within assigned cottages and engagement in professional growth opportunities. The Inpatient Cottage Supervisor is accountable for the day to day coordination and supervision of treatment and cottage operations.

Examples of Essential Functions:

  • Assist with hiring and development of team ensuring completion of required training, high performance, talent succession planning and team member engagement
  • Conduct timely performance reviews and monitors performance and staffing needs
  • Complete work schedules and payroll reports for assigned positions
  • Responsible for the daily oversight of assigned program
  • Ensure the implementation for the execution of daily schedules, activities and programming
  • Supervise the work of cottage staff and assigns tasks
  • Provide and/or arrange coaching/training to maintain and improve staff skills
  • Prepare Assistant Supervisors, Shift Leaders and Youth Service Workers for Team by creating and implementing effective and efficient team agendas
  • Effectively facilitate and collaborate in team meetings, responsible for timely completion and distribution of team meetings
  • Role model and deliver excellent customer service to clients/consumers and their families
  • Guide and direct Assistant Cottage Supervisors, Shift Leaders and Youth Service Workers to ensure effective use of their time
  • Ensure completion and final review of all documentation of services in a timely manner (same day) including but not limited to daily logs, shift notes, changeover, incident reports, behavior management and bed checks
  • Facilitate communication within the treatment team to include but not limited to families, DHS, JCO, FAL, schools, etc.
  • Ensure all cottage staff provide supervision for clients/consumers effectively utilizing trauma sensitive interventions and restorative practices to achieve safety, stability and healing
  • Ensure daily shift is planned and debriefing occurs within each of the programs cottages
  • Model behavior which cultivates compassion, client service and service quality
  • Provide leadership oversight to the team and promote team building among the staff
  • Facilitate communication amongst staff and management
  • Responsible for effective implementation of policies, procedures, processes and standards of Tanager Place
  • Monitor significant departmental trends that can shift/affect the business unit
  • Work in tandem with care team to coordinate care
  • Attend assigned meetings and provide case management when applicable
  • Ensure consistent, ongoing and timely provision for client/consumer needs
  • Assist with and ensure accurate medication administration
  • Understand client/consumer needs and ensure effective implementation of the individualized treatment plans
  • Assist clients/consumers in developing insight into their thoughts and behaviors to self-regulate and self-correct actions before escalation
  • Establish a therapeutic relationship with the clients/consumers based on trust and mutual respect
  • Perform additional assignments as directed

Acceptable Experience/Training/ Education:

  • Bachelors Degree in a related field or currently enrolled in coursework to obtain a Bachelors Degree in a related field
  • Two (2) years’ inpatient experience
  • One (1) year’s experience in a leadership role
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work

Required Special Qualifications:

  • Certified Medication Aide (CMA) Certification required or eligible to become CMA certified within three (3) months of hire
  • Must possess a valid Drivers License and meet the driving requirements of the¬†Agency
