Dr. Laura Steckley

Laura joined the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland in 2003, where she teaches and carries out research. Before coming to the University, she worked in direct practice, management and training in residential treatment for adolescents in the United States and residential child care in Scotland. Laura’s research and teaching broadly involve deepening our understanding of key areas of practice in order to improve the experiences and life chances of children and young people in residential child care. She is currently carrying out a study on physical restraint in Scottish residential child care and co-leads the Scottish Physical Restraint Action Group (SPAG).
