Removing Point and Level Systems in a Youth Residential Agency

Despite ACRC’s 2019 position paper calling for the removal of universal point and level (P&L) systems, many residential programs struggle to execute this change. We review arguments for and against removing P&L systems, describe one successful attempt to do so, and present data on what happened to restraints and critical incidents when we did.
