DESCRIPTION Federal Contract Requirements: Provide proof of COVID-19 Vaccination. Must be a U.S. Citizen or a Lawful Permanent Resident.

The Pecos Children’s Center Programming Chief will oversee, develop, and implement a wide array of culturally appropriate and innovative programming for unaccompanied migrant children at the Pecos Children’s Center (PCC).

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure appropriate and objective supervision, support, and instruction of programming staff.
  • In coordination with other department and approved information systems, collect data, track outcomes, and perform program evaluations.
  • Establish, maintain, and set expectations for programming partners or sub-contractors.
  • Partner with Shelter department on a daily basis regarding the logistics of UC movement and youth care worker participation in programming activities.
  • Supervise the planning, implementation and documentation of the following programs provided for children: Music Therapy, Horticultural Therapy, Spiritual Care Services, Audio-Visual Programming, Recreation, Arts & Crafts, and others as needed to maintain a robust schedule activities for client population.
  • Assist in the selection of specialized support staff for the population.
  • Support development and integration of youth advisory council.
  • Support in curating townhall experiences for youth to provide feedback to on-site leadership.
  • Help with planning and implementation of cultural experiences for children to include holidays and any other culturally-appropriate celebrations.
  • Assist in preparing reports and financial statements regarding program operations by tracking service hours.
  • Facilitate culturally relevant and events, experiences, and material-creation for children.
  • Actively establish and maintain relationships with relevant key arts agencies, and community organizations.
  • Comply with policies and procedures governing the program.
  • Develop onboarding process specific to programming staff in collaboration with Compliance and HR leadership.
  • Work with public health officials to ensure innovative programming is in line with safe health measures and in line with infection prevention policies.
  • Monitor that program services are provided in accordance with funding guidelines and are based on the specific needs of children, youth and families.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

  • Minimum BS/BA or equivalent work experience in related field.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 3 – 5 years in related field.
  • Previous professional experience in innovative work related to cultural sustainability and critical thinking.
  • Strong understanding of program infrastructures including strategic communications, external relations, finance and HR.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Communication skills. The Programming Chief must be able to document and present their research and related information. A great Administrator has excellent communication and organizational skills, is well versed in departmental procedures and policies, and can discover ways to do the job more efficiently.
  • Computer skills. The Programming Chief needs to have excellent computer skills. Proficiency in all Microsoft Office, Prezi and SharePoint preferred.
  • Interpersonal skills. The Programming Chief spends a lot of time working with PCC Departments, directors and other professionals and must be able to develop good relationships. They must make everyone feel comfortable yet know what and when to share.
  • Organizational skills. The Programming Chief will have multiple PCC related projects consistently. They must adapt quickly to changing deadlines and thus be flexible.

ATTENDANCE: Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined at the employer’s sole discretion. Works business hours but position requires support before and after workday and weekends as assigned.

LICENSES: Driver’s License with clear record.

VEHICLE: Must have daily use of a vehicle without prior notice.

OTHER: Must be available and willing to travel to Pecos, Texas and various locations and with such frequency as the business need dictates.

THE DEPARTMENT HEAD MUST APPROVE EXCEPTIONS TO THESE CRITERIA.

LOCATION: Pecos, Texas. Dependent upon projects deliverables and priority.

Must not pose a direct threat or significant risk of substantial harm to the safety or health of himself/herself or others. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal Background Clearance.
