DESCRIPTION *** Must be willing to relocate to work full-time in Eagle Lake, TX. Sign-on bonus offered ($500 after 30 days of continuous employment and $500 after 6 months of continuous employment)***

JOB PURPOSE: The Youth Care Worker (YCW) at the Eagle Lake Children’s Center is responsible for providing direct care supervision for all children residing in the center. The YCW will ensure that the Daily Schedule is followed and children are supervised at all times.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSBILITIES: 

  • Assist in conducting Intake services to include but not limited to: completing necessary paperwork, providing child with an orientation packet.
  • Provide children basic needs upon arrival to the program (to include but not limited to: a meal, clothing, shower, and hygiene).
  • Must provide line of sight supervision to the children in care and ensure that ratios are continuously met. Ratio is 1 YCW to 8 children.
  • Develop positive rapport with children in care while serving as a role model to create a safe and caring environment.
  • Provide vocational courses and curriculum in a subject area prepared by the Vocational Coordinator and approved by the Program Director.
  • Assist with the coordination of Physical Education instruction and other large muscle activities coordinator by the Recreation Coordinator.
  • Must assist in the evacuation of children as needed due to inclement weather conditions, natural disaster or any other evacuation needed to keep children safe.
  • Maintain count of all children under your supervision.
  • May be asked to travel to assist in the reunification of children in care.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Proficiency in Spanish/English (written and spoken language skills), required.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office products and Google tools.
  • Successfully pass a TB test annually and document preference to receive or decline Hepatitis immunization.
  • Be physically, mentally, and emotionally capable of performing assigned tasks and have the skills necessary to perform assigned task.
  • Pass a criminal history screen, including state, federal, and local child protection agency registries.
  • Successfully pass a drug screen.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise a high level of confidentiality.
  • Complete a notarized Licensing Affidavit for Applicants for Employment form, as specified in Human Resources Code §42.059.

EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience working within a child welfare setting.

LICENSES: Clear driving record.

WORK LOCATION: Eagle Lake Children’s Center in-person.

OTHER: Must be available and willing to travel in case of an emergency evacuation and as the business need dictates. Must be available and willing to work nights, weekends and holidays as required to meet business needs.
