Camela M. Hughes

Dr. Hughes joined LaSalle’s staff in 2012 as the Program Assessment and Effectiveness Research Specialist. Her research interests include evidence based practice, trauma informed care, and the linkages between client characteristics, treatment interventions, and outcomes for youth in treatment. Dr. Hughes actively presents on these topics at regional and national conferences for organizations including the American Association of Children’s Residential Centers and the American Society of Criminology. She represented LaSalle School in the ‘Change in Mind’ brain science cohort sponsored by the national Alliance for Strong Families and Communities. In addition to her work at LaSalle, Dr. Hughes is an adjunct professor in the University at Albany’s School of Criminal Justice, and the State University of New York at Plattsburgh. She is the data and research analyst for ‘1Life2Live,’ a program run by Youth Life Support Network, Inc. in Schenectady, NY. Dr. Hughes earned bachelor degrees in Criminal Justice and Spanish at the University of Nevada, Reno, and continued her work in Criminal Justice at the UAlbany’s School of Criminal Justice. She was introduced to LaSalle through her graduate work with the University’s Service Outcomes Action Research (SOAR), a project designed to aid LaSalle in the development and testing of a theory of change to help determine what methods work best with which clients.
