Wendy Wang is the Vice President of Public Policy and Advocacy at Hathaway-Sycamores, one of the largest children’s mental health services organization in Los Angeles County. Wendy is a member of the Executive Leadership Team and co-facilitates the organization’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Advisory Committee. She currently serves as the Vice Chair of the Public Policy Committee for the Association of Children’s Residential Centers (ACRC) where she is also a board member. For nearly 15 years, Wendy has championed many issues critical to the success of both individual and collective community-based organizations, including the importance of culturally responsive and linguistically appropriate care practices. This crucial work reflects the experience and insight acquired during her time at Pacific Clinics as the Corporate Director of Community Education Outreach and Policy as well as her tenure at the Association of Community Human Services Agencies (ACHSA) where she held the role of Mental Health Policy Director.
Beyond her professional work in the nonprofit sector, Wendy has a long history of comprehensive experience in public service. She was a member of Los Angeles Mayor James K. Hahn’s administration, library commissioner for the cities of Torrance and Pasadena, commissioner for the Pasadena northwest neighborhood, and served as a board member for the Friends of the Pasadena Public Libraries, Pasadena Chapter of Soroptomist International and the Organization of Chinese Americans (OCA) in the Greater LA Chapter.
At her alma mater, USC, Wendy served as President of the Price Alumni Association Board of Directors and on the board of the Asian Pacific Alumni Association where she led the scholarship committee in 2013. She was recognized for her dedication and years of service with the USC Widney Alumni House Award (2015), the GPAC Outstanding Alumnus of the Year Award (2014) and the Student Health Administration’s Honorary Alumna of the Year Award (2014).
