In Balance or Imbalance? Looking at Treatments through Equity and Outcomes

Room: Ocean Ballroom

This discussion will explore an overview of considering our diagnostic models, use of psychotherapy, and medication outcomes through the lens of diversity and equity.  It is often assumed that our diagnoses are reliable and that our evidence-based treatments translate to a “one size fits all” to deliver services.  Yet access to care and rigorous research methods often do not reflect young people that find themselves in residential treatment.  The presentation will look at the broad categories of intervention offered in residential treatment.  Questions raised will lead to discussions of how to address them within your treatment continuum.
