The Circle of Courage in Action

Room: Caribbean 3

Traditional Indigenous child rearing practices have been producing respectful and courageous youth for centuries. These Indigenous teachings can help to strengthen our schools and communities in order to better serve youth in the modern age. Experience one educator’s journey to integrate and sustain these values into her school and district in order to increase the resiliency of students in a Title I elementary school with a highly diverse student population. Creating a respectful strength-based reclaiming culture in institutions is vital for staff and students to be successful. Learn about practical strategies for integrating Indigenous values into your institution, school, or classroom.
