Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) youth are often marginalized in the many facets of their life. Residential care and community-based services are not the exception to contributing to that experience. Without strategy and foresight, we are equally at risks of excluding or even doing harm to young LGBTQ+ youth in our care. It is our responsibility, as care providers, to reduce the risks of re-traumatizing and impeding a child’s healthy development. Three providers across the country have come together to present to you how we have approached increasing safety and support of the emotional health of our LGTBQ+ youth. During this webinar, one agency will present their clinical focus on non-binary gender identity and expression and diverse sexual orientations. Another agency will provide the nuts and bolts of preparing your organization and program for supporting LGBTQ+ inclusiveness, and finally a third agency will share about their LGBTQ group home and its impact on supporting queer youth in care. The audience will have opportunity to engage in open and candid dialogue on how to bring these processes to your organization.
