Creative and Compassionate Ways to Support Grief and Loss

Wednesday, November 29, 2023
12 – 1:30 p.m. CST

Grief and Loss impacts all of us. Whether it is the death of a loved one, the death of a celebrity that has influenced our lives, or it is the loss of a job, support group, or a move to a new location. Especially in residential work, we experience grief and loss vicariously and through personal experience every day. Through clients with multiple placements, the death of client’s family members (as they are in our care or unresolved from the past), staff coming in and out of the program, changes in supervisor, not to mention what is happening in our own personal lives, this list could go on and on. It can be challenging to know how to support and what to do. Dive into this topic to explore creative ways to support our clients and ourselves. Using both practical application and case study we will explore how bibliotherapy, creative activities, and play can support not only our clients but also our own healing work
