Cindy is a certified Child and Youth Care practitioner at the Professional Level. She is a full-time trainer and facilitator and sits on the CYCCB Board of Directors as the current President of the Board. Cindy has a long history of direct service work with young people in congregate care and emergency shelter and provided street outreach services. She also provided outpatient mental health services to young people and their families.
Cindy believes that the CYC profession is essential to the health of young people, families, communities, and societies and is a champion of competency-based training and certification. In addition to creating and holding the highest standards of the field through certification, she also sees certification as a way to bring practitioners together to share ideas, provide support to one another and create a true CYC system of care where a young person can move among service providers, educators, systems, and community situations and receive consistent care and messages to support their development based on our professional competencies.
As a full-time trainer and facilitator, Cindy engages CYC practitioners from a variety of settings from afterschool and education to congregate care and residential treatment, to faith communities and community-based organizations. Her professional development opportunities are always based on the best science we have in the field and comes from a healthy development and trauma informed foundation delivered with equity and inclusion in mind.
