Katharina Freres, PhD, is a Research Associate at the department of Social Work at the University of Kassel, Germany. She has undertaken ethnographical research in the field of decision-making in child protection in social service agencies in Germany and California, USA and in die field of residential care institutions and boarding school across Germany.
