Joseph Kim is the 31st President of the Korea National Association of Child Welfare (KNACW), representing 280 residential child care facilities across Korea. He also serves as Director of Shinae Won Children’s Home and Dongmyung Child Counseling Center. With more than 30 years of experience in residential child care, he has dedicated his career to advancing child welfare policy and improving the quality of residential care. He also serves as an adjunct professor, helping bridge professional practice and academia. Since assuming the presidency in 2024, he has led national efforts to advance Therapeutic Residential Care (TRC) and strengthen international collaboration, while promoting evidence-informed practice and child-centred care for children with complex needs.
