What Constitutes Quality in Children’s Residential Care: Measuring what matters to children and their families
This two-day, in-person event brings together international expertise to deepen understanding, stimulate critical debate, and share innovative approaches to supporting children and young people in residential settings. Posters will play a key role in highlighting emerging evidence, promising practice, and voices from across the sector.
We invite practitioners, researchers, policymakers, and those with lived experience of children’s residential care to submit poster abstracts for presentation at the upcoming summit. Accepted posters will be displayed at a dedicated poster session during which presenters can discuss their work with delegates, including practitioners, researchers, and policymakers.
Suggested Themes
- Defining and measuring quality in children’s residential care
- Lived experiences of residential care
- Innovative practice models, including therapeutic approaches
- Workforce development, training, and practice environments
- Organisational culture and leadership
- Outcomes that matter to children and families
- Transitions and relational continuity
- International perspectives or cross-country comparisons
- Ethical, methodological, or participatory research innovations
Posters may include:
- Empirical research
- Practice-based projects or innovations
- Policy analysis
- Conceptual or theoretical work
- Co-produced or youth-led projects
Abstract Submission Guidelines
We invite you to submit the following:
- Abstract: no more than 250 words
- Title
- Background/Context
- Aim or focus of the work
- Methods/Approach
- Key findings or insights
- Implications for practice, policy, or research
- Bio and Resume: A short (4-6 line ONLY) biographical statement and your resume (5 pages max) for each presenter.
- Brief description of your presenting experience.
- Photo of each presenter.
Proposals may be submitted through 30 April 2026.
